Qin Muyun, a former Qualcomm executive, leads the Xring project, contributing valuable expertise to Xiaomi’s chip design endeavours. This initiative positions Xiaomi to compete directly with established semiconductor giants like Qualcomm and MediaTek.
Technical Specifications
Manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm N4P process, the Xring processor avoids the newer 3nm technology to sidestep potential supply chain constraints and international sanctions that have impacted other companies.
The processor features an octa-core architecture.

For graphics processing, the Xring integrates the Imagination IMG DXT72 GPU operating at 1.3 GHz. Preliminary assessments suggest that the Xring’s performance could rival that of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
