On Tuesday, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee declared that the Zilhajj moon was not sighted anywhere in Pakistan.
The announcement followed a meeting in Islamabad, led by Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabeer Azad, with zonal committees nationwide confirming no reliable moon sighting reports.
Consequently, the first day of Zilhajj 1446 Hijri will be Thursday, May 29, 2025, and Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on Saturday, June 7, across the country.
This aligns with SUPARCO’s earlier forecast, which noted unfavourable conditions for moon visibility on May 27.
Eid-ul-Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice, occurs on the 10th of Zilhajj, honouring Prophet Ibrahim’s readiness to sacrifice his son in devotion to God.
The festival involves ritual animal sacrifice, with meat shared among family, friends, and the less fortunate.
This three-day celebration highlights charity, community, and faith, marking a key moment in the Islamic calendar.
