On Monday, the Karachi Traffic Police revealed their traffic plan for New Year’s Eve to ensure smooth traffic flow during the celebrations. The plan includes designated routes and special arrangements for the night.

Celebrations and Safety Concerns

New Year’s Eve in Karachi is often filled with the sounds of fireworks and, unfortunately, aerial gunfire. While these celebrations bring excitement, they have also caused injuries in past years. Authorities are urging citizens to celebrate responsibly to avoid accidents.

To maintain safety, Section 144 will be enforced from December 31 to January 1. This law prohibits carrying or displaying weapons, aerial firing, and using firecrackers.

Traffic Plan Details

Drivers are advised to carry their original ID documents for verification at checkpoints. Here are the key routes and restrictions:

The police chief emphasised the importance of enjoying New Year’s Eve without causing harm or inconvenience to others. He reminded citizens of last year’s tragic incidents, where one person lost their life and many were injured due to aerial firing.
